SIMEONE IS THE ONE CHELSEA BELIEVES IN
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is expecting Diego Simeone to succeed Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge this summer, according to reports from El Confidencial.
The Blues are currently on the lookout for a permanent head coach to come in at the end of the season, with Jose Mourinho – who was sacked in December – having only been replaced on an interim basis.
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has been heavily linked with the role in recent days, but despite suggestions he’s ‘agreed’ to join the London club, reports claim that Simeone is the man Russian owner Abramovich wants, and that he’s expecting a the switch to go through.
It’s understood that the Atletico Madrid chief was wanted before Mourinho was dismissed, and that ‘Cholo’s’ name has been at the top of the Premier League champions’ wish list for some time.
Simeone is set to discuss his future with Atleti at the end of the season and could be tempted to leave with the club facing a two-window transfer ban that looks likely to kick in in 2017.
