Iniesta In A Super HOKAGE mode And Destined To Be Much Better

Andres Iniesta's father has affirmed that the Barcelona star is overjoyed with life both on and off the pitch as he settles in to his new role as captain and figurehead of the Catalan giants.

The midfielder received special praise from Vicente Del Bosque in an exclusive interviewwith Goal, as the Spain coach opined that the 31-year-old was currently enjoying "one of the best moments of his life".

And that assertion was backed up by Jose Antonio Iniesta, who says that the arrival of a new baby into the family has made the player even better on the pitch.

"With the birth of his second son he has reached a state of pure happiness and that can be seen in the stadium," Andres' father told Goal.

The imperious form shown by the World Cup winner is in stark contrast to the World Cup winner's indifferent start to the season in 2014-15, as he adapted to a new role in the Barca midfield following the exit of Gerardo Martino.

Luis Enrique's new regime switched the focus of Barcelona's attacking build-up from the midfield to the team's fearsome forward trident, completed with Luis Suarez's arrival from Liverpool.

In Xavi Hernandez's last season at Camp Nou the Blaugrana moved away from the iron grip previously exerted on matches in favour of destroying teams with lightning-quick transitional play. The change in strategy bore immediate fruit, with the treble in Enrique's first season and two more trophies at the tail end of 2015.

And Iniesta Sr. explains how his son has only ever been focused on his football and performing well for club and country. "He never aspired to be the leader or captain of anything," he says. "There are captains who win their role with their bravery and others that do so with their humility, they are chosen by their team-mates. Andres is one of those." In any case, Iniesta feels he is integral to the team and the numbers support his case.

The two trophies already secured this season, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup, have made him, alongside Lionel Messi, the highest-decorated player of all-time at Barcelona. The Catalans' glorious last decade cannot be comprehended unless the midfielder is mentioned as one of its architects. Iniesta enjoys a unique status as the only Barca player applauded in every stadium the length and breadth of Spain - with the exception of San Mames, Athletic's home.

"I cannot explain how it feels to see him receive ovations in every stadium," Jose Antonio Iniesta added. "It is immensely valuable and what every father wishes to see in their sons."

And his father has warned Barca's rivals that the improvement in Andres is set to continue. "He even looks younger, he is still learning from every game he plays."
