Chinese giants looking to sign Chelsea star in £6m deal

Chinese club Shanghai SIPG are looking to sign Chelsea star John Obi Mikel in a £6m deal this month,
according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Mikel has been used sparingly by the Blues ever since the arrival of Nemanja Matic in the January of 2014, but under manager Guus Hiddink the Nigeria international has started the last four league games for the champions.
However, former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson, who is charge of Shanghai SIPG, is keen on bringing Mikel over to the Chinese Super League and is considering a £6m bid with a contract worth £60,000-a-week.
Despite a lack of cover in that area, Chelsea could consider a deal to let Mikel off their books to free up funds amid talks for Alexandre Pato.

Mikel, who almost joined Manchester Unitedbefore choosing the Blues, has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring no goals.
