Family’s Reunion With Their German Shepherd After A 3-Year Absence

or anyone who has a beloved pet at home, it’s hard to imagine a life without that animal. A pet becomes a beloved member of the family, just like another human. So when Rico was taken away from his family, we can imagine how devastated they were.

The now six-year-old German Shepherd was taken away from Andrea Arce and her two daughters three years ago, after a messy breakup. Rico was then given away, and Andrea had no way of knowing where the pup was.

That was until two weeks ago, when she received a phone call from a shelter in Virginia, claiming that Rico was found abandoned, just walking in the street. No one knew how he got there, all the way across the country from San Diego.

Andrea then had a military friend pick him up and take him to the vet before shipping him back home. And if there was any doubt that this dog wasn’t Andrea’s, the happy and emotional reuniondefinitely confirms that this pup recognized his owner.

Andrea says, “It’s the connected that we had for the first three years of his life. We never forgot him and he never forgot us.”
